Dr. Joel Flashman, a university graduate with excellent prospects, is sent on assignment to a small northern town for practical training. Upon arrival, Joel discovers that it is a real "hole" on the map, not promising anything good for a successful career. Without wasting time, Joel plans to return to New York, where his fiancée and bright future await him. However, it is not that simple - according to the contract, Joel is obligated to work here for several years.
