The film depicts the well-known "Y2K problem," which occurred when developers and programmers were concerned that computers would not be able to handle the transition to the year 2000, potentially causing chaos worldwide. Eli, a high school student, is infatuated with Laura, a popular classmate who is constantly pursued by other guys. Alongside his best friend, Eli attends a lively New Year's Eve party in hopes of talking to Laura, only to be harshly rejected by her current boyfriend. However, after midnight, all technology malfunctions and begins to target people. This unexpected turn of events presents Eli with an opportunity to prove himself and save Laura.
